UAP holds international conference on Covid- 19’s impact on legal field
Participants from at least eight countries attended the conference virtually
An international virtual conference was held from Thursday to Saturday on the impact of Covid-19 pandemic in the legal field.The conference was organized by UNESCO Madanjeet Singh South Asian Institute of Advanced Legal and Human Rights Studies (UMSAILS) in partnership with Department of Law and Human Rights, University of Asia Pacific (UAP), read a press release.
The conference was divided into nine sessions covering three sessions each day. It tried to synergize diverse knowledge and insights on evolving legal dynamics emanated from the pandemic from stellar personalities of the legal world, read the statement.
On the first day of the conference, impact of Covid-19 on the legal professions, human rights infringements and entry regulations on border closures during Covid-19, and violence on women and children amid the pandemic were discussed.
In the inaugural ceremony, former justice of the Supreme Court of India Goekle was present as Chief Guest while Professor Asono, of the Department of Law at Kansai University, Japan and Justice Moinul Islam Chowhdury, former justice of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh adorned the session as special guests, read the release.

Dr Chowdhury Ishrak Ahmed Siddiky, head of the Department of Law and Human Rights, UAP offered vote of thanks at the end of the plenary session.
The issues of counterbalancing public interests amid pthe pandemic, Covid-19’s influence on labour situations in South Asia and regional food security, educational constraints during pandemic, appraisal of international laws and epidemic laws in the backdrop of Covid-19 were deliberated on by the participants on the second day of the conference.
The third day of the conference highlighted the discourse of Covid-19 footprints on environment and climate change which was followed by a couple of thought provoking narrations from different participants on the right to privacy, E-commerce and right to freedom of expression during pandemic.Along with national participants, participants from eight different countries presented their papers at the conference on pandemic-driven legal principles, laws and policies.
