In the National Council Election of Bhutan held on 20 April 2018, Mr. Dorji Khandu, a recipient of the SAF-Madanjeet Singh Group Scholarship in Water Resources Engineering and Management from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka (2014-2015) has been elected as the Member of National Council of Bhutan and Member of Parliament. Our Warmest Congratulations from the SAF family.
The Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environmental Research (UWICER) signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the College of Natural Resources (CNR) on 21st April 2018. This MoU forms the renewal of the MoU which was signed between the two institutions on May 07, 2012 to implement the program of UNESCO Madanjeet Centre for South Asia Forestry Studies (UMCSAFS).
SAF Bhutan Chapter newly registered, on 28th February 2018 as Jamchong Thuendrel Foundation(BJTF)
SAF Bhutan is pleased to report here that after almost two years of going back and forth with the Civil Society Organisation Authority (CSOA) of Bhutan, we have made a presentation to the CSOA Board on 6th December 2017 under a local name “Bhutan Jamchong Thuendel Foundation” (BJTF); which means “Bhutan Foundation of Compassion and Goodwill”. The Bhutan Ecological Society (BES) successfully hosted its Third Annual Research Symposium & Environmental Fair on 27-29 August in Thimphu, Bhutan. The 3-day education and outreach programe drew large crowds and great public interest, thanks to the support and active participation of Thimphu schools and 21 organizations including universities, government agencies, green businesses and CSOs.
