Mental Health Journalism Award-2011 given to a former UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Scholarship recipient

KATHMANDU: Nepal Mental Health Foundation (NMHF) has announced Nepal's first Mental Health Journalism Award-2011 to Om Astha Rai, a journalist associated  with Republica National English Daily. Rai has been selected to be endowed with this year's award for his  ground-breaking story on Nepal's migrant workers who return home with mental  health problems.

This award's financial value amounts to twenty-five thousand rupees in cash along with a certificate of appreciation. This award is given every year to an outstanding journalist who covers mental health issues starting from this year on 10th October-- World Mental Health Day. Om Astha Rai was selected by South Asia Foundation Nepal (SAF Nepal) committee  to continue enhancing his career with a post graduate degree in Chennai at the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Centre of South Asian journalism, Chennai, India where he was able to interact with other South Asians colleagues.
