UMISARC organized special lectures on 'Contours of Humanitarianism, Security and Cooperation in South Asia'

UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institute for South Asian Reginal Cooperation (UMISARC) organized  special lecture series on "Contours of Humanitarianism, Security and Cooperation in South Asia: Case Of Sri Lankan Refugees" by Dr. K. M Parivelan (Chairperson & Associate Professor at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai) at UMISARC, Pondicherry University  on 30th October '2019. The speaker discussed the contemporary refugee crisis around the world with special focus on South Asia, the lack of a legal framework for refugees in South Asia and the case of Sri Lankan refugees. He also shared incidents from his past experience of working with UNHCR. This discussion was a productive event appreciated by the students and faculty at UMISARC.

The UMISARC community also celebrated the birthday of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam on 15th October '2019 with great joy by organising a blood donation camp with the support of Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry. We are glad to inform you that two female students from Sri Lanka donated their blood and students from other South Asian Countries also participated in the blood donation program. This enshrines the strength of people-to-people connection amid the South Asian countries.
