Unaccompanied Children in the care of
SOS Children's Villages of Pakistan


On the 31st of December 2007 there were 212 children and 11 widows in the care of SOS Children’s Villages.

  • 33 are at the SOS Earthquake (EQ) Centre, Lahore.
  • 01 has been integrated into the SOS Children’s Village, Lahore.
  • 03 are at SOS Life Care Centre, Lahore (an Institution for Mentally and Physically Handicapped Children).
  • 05 have been integrated into the SOS Children’s Village, Rawalpindi.
  • 74 are at the SOS EQ Shelter, Rawalpindi.
  • 12 are at the SOS Youth Facility, Rawalpindi.
  • 23 are at the SOS Children’s Village, Sialkot.
  • 56 are at the SOS EQ Shelter, Dhodial – NWFP
  • 02 are at the SOS EQ Children’s Youth Home , Dhodial - NWFP
  • 03 have been integrated into the SOS Children’s Village, Faisalabad

During the above mentioned period 09 new children joined SOS.


Acquisition of land in Hangu – NWFP for the Establishment of
a new SOS Children’s Village


The Chief Secretary, NWFP has very kindly approved a 50 Kanal piece of land for SOS, for the establishment of a new SOS Children’s Village at Hangu, NWFP. The land acquisition process will be finalized by the end of this year.

During the above mentioned period, the children have been busy in their studies as well as extra- curricular activities:


Academics

  In academics at our SOS EQ Centre, Lahore, Kamran Rasheed of class 6 and Jabran Jameel of KG student maintained their top position. The other students also showed good results.


Extra Curricular Activities



The most exciting and interesting items “Yoga and Jogging” have been organized. Our girls from age 6 to 17 are attending classes conducted by a trained yoga instructor twice a week. The volunteer is hoping to train our older girls who can carry on with the teaching of yoga in the future. The senior boys have been running regularly preparing for the annual Lahore City Marathon.
