UNESCO-Madanjeet Singh Prize to be awarded to the Tolerance Center (Russian Federation) 
The 2016 edition of  the UNESCO-Madanjeet Singh Prize for the Promotion of Tolerance and Non-violence will be awarded to the Federal Research and Methodological Center for Tolerance Psychology and Education (Tolerance Center) of Russia in a ceremony at UNESCO Headquarters on 16 November at 6.30pm.

The jury of the Prize recommended the Tolerance Center in recognition of its wide range of activities, which include research and educational programmes to promote dialogue between religions and worldviews with a particular focus on youth.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the UNESCO-Madanjeet Singh Prize for the Promotion of Tolerance and Non-Violence was established in 1995 on the occasion of the United Nations Year for Tolerance and the 125th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi. The Prize aims to advance the spirit of tolerance in arts, education, culture, science and communication.

The US$100,000 Prize is awarded every two years to individuals or institutions for their outstanding contribution to the promotion of tolerance and non-violence. Laureates are selected by the International Jury, composed of: Professor Nadia Bernoussi (Morocco), Marek Halter (France) and Dr Kamal Hossain (Bangladesh).
