UMSGET Building inaugrated on 16 April, 2014


The new building of the Madanjeet School of Green Energy Technology of the Pondicherry University was inaugurated by Madame France Marquet, trustee of Madanjeet Singh Foundation (MSF), and University vice-chancellor Prof Chandra Krishnamurthy here on Wednesday.

Director and UNESCO representative, Shigeru Aoyagi and president of MSF N Ram were present at the inaugural function. Addressing the gathering, Ram said the universities in the country should be autonomous and function independently with transparency and accountability.

The new green building of Madanjeet School of Green Energy Technology is built with a remarkable 86% compliance with the GRIHA norms of sustainable site, building design and conservation of materials and resources. The green building, built at a cost of approximately `14 Cr, will house two centres - The Centre for Green Energy Technology and The Centre for Nano Science and Technology. The Centre for Green Energy Technology has filed two reasearch patents and also developed high-speed real time data acquisition system to monitor photovoltaic performance and also thermoelectric lighting system.

The Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology is established to confront teaching and research in energy-efficient technologies through nanotechnology. The centre has acquired sponsored research projects worth `5 Cr from leading funding agencies to do advanced research in the fields of specialisations.
