The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has officially renewed its longstanding partnership with the South Asia Foundation (SAF), reaffirming its support for SAF’s vital role in promoting peace, regional cooperation, and sustainable development through education and cultural exchange in South Asia.
This renewed relationship till 2030 marks a significant milestone in the continuing collaboration between the two organisations, which share a common vision of advancing inclusive education, intercultural dialogue, and youth empowerment across the region.
The renewal letter was addressed to the SAF Foundation by UNESCO's Director-General, acknowledging the Foundation's consistent efforts in line with UNESCO’s mission and values. The renewed recognition highlights SAF’s ongoing contributions through its network of institutions, including the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institutions of Excellence in SAARC countries.
Madam France Marquet, Principal Trustee of the Madanjeet Singh Foundation and UNESCO Representative of the South Asia Foundation, welcomed this development as a reaffirmation of the late UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Madanjeet Singh’s enduring legacy. She emphasized that the continued collaboration will further strengthen the Foundation’s commitment to youth-led initiatives and cross-border cooperation.
This renewed official relationship not only recognizes SAF’s past achievements but also paves the way for deeper engagement with UNESCO’s global programmes in education, culture, and sustainable development.
