2025 ceremony for the UNESCO-Al Fozan International Prize for the promotion of young scientists in STEM
Paris, 19 September 2025 – UNESCO Headquarters in Paris hosted the prestigious second edition of the UNESCO-Al Fozan International Prize for the Promotion of Young Scientists in STEM, celebrating five exceptional young researchers from across UNESCO’s five geographic regions.
Launched in 2021 through a partnership between UNESCO and the Al-Fozan Foundation (Saudi Arabia), the Prize recognizes groundbreaking contributions in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Each laureate receives $50,000, a medal, and a diploma, honoring their pioneering research, innovative achievements, and dedication to advancing global knowledge. The Prize also strongly emphasizes gender equality, encouraging more women and girls to pursue careers in STEM.
This year’s ceremony highlighted how young scientists are not only pushing the boundaries of innovation but also shaping solutions to some of the world’s most pressing socio-economic and environmental challenges. Their work reflects the Prize’s mission: to foster global cooperation in science and empower a new generation of innovators.
