 Opening Preview: Thursday, 30 October 2025 | 18:00 – 20:00
 Venue: Saskia Fernando Gallery
Saskia Fernando Gallery is delighted to announce Go Home is Within Me, a solo exhibition by Pradeep Thalawatta, alumnus of the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institute for South Asian Arts (UMISAA), Batch of 2013.
Rooted in the charged atmosphere of resilience and the awakening of political consciousness, Thalawatta’s new body of work reflects on the memories of struggle and solidarity born from the Aragalaya movement. Using construction materials such as sandpaper, tar, and photographs of protest sites, the artist creates a poignant dialogue between the collective aspirations of the masses and the private desires that shape the domestic sphere.
Thalawatta’s works have been recently showcased at Latitude 28, New Delhi (2025); SOAS Gallery, London (2025); and the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Colombo (2024). His pieces are part of the permanent collections of the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Japan, and the Millesgården Museum, Sweden. A recipient of the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institute for South Asian Arts Scholarship, Thalawatta continues to explore the intersections of memory, identity, and collective experience through his art.
The exhibition will remain open to the public until 27 November 2025.
An Online Viewing Room will be launched at 18:00 on 30 October 2025.
