Madam France Marquet, SAF Representative and Principal Trustee of MSF to UNESCO attended UNESCO's World Futures Day On 2 December 2025, the global spotlight turned toward shaping better tomorrows as UNESCO convened its annual World Futures Day (WFD) under the theme “Anticipation in an Era of Volatility.”
World Futures Day 2025 brought together thought leaders, policymakers, futurists and global experts across sectors to explore how “futures thinking” and “foresight” can be harnessed to navigate the growing uncertainties of our time: from climate change and demographic shifts to rapid technological and societal transformation. The event showcased UNESCO’s inter-sectoral and multidisciplinary approach to anticipating and preparing for change leveraging the work of more than 1,100 UNESCO University Chairs worldwide, including 35 Chairs in Futures Studies.
A highlight of the day was the formal announcement of UNESCO’s new Global Anticipatory Policy Coalition, under the aegis of UNESCO’s MOST Programme. This coalition will serve as a global platform to foster peer learning, knowledge exchange, and the mainstreaming of foresight into policy-making across member states — including areas such as education, environment, governance, science, culture and social development.
