SAF Alumni Batch of 2022 & 2024 Connect at Eawag: A Meeting that Reflects the Global Footprint of UMCSAWM

 A heartening moment of academic connection recently took place at the renowned Swiss research institute Eawag in Switzerland, highlighting the growing global presence of alumni from the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Centre for South Asia Water Management (UMCSAWM) at the University of Moratuwa.

Mr. Nur Mohammad, an SAF UMCSAWM alumnus from Bangladesh (Batch of 2024), recently met fellow SAF alumnus Mr. Sambuddha Bajracharya (Batch of 2022) during his visit to Eawag in Zurich. The meeting turned into a memorable reunion of South Asian scholars committed to advancing water resources research and sustainable development.

Mr. Sambuddha Bajracharya, a distinguished SAF alumnus from Nepal, has achieved an important academic milestone by being selected for the prestigious EPP Fellowship Program at Eawag in Switzerland. He completed his Master’s degree in Water Resources Engineering and Management from the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Centre for South Asia Water Management at the University of Moratuwa. As part of this fellowship, he is undertaking a four-month research program at the institute, further strengthening international collaboration in water research.

During their meeting at Eawag, Mr. Nur Mohammad and Mr. Bajracharya engaged in meaningful discussions about their current academic engagements, research interests, and the strengthening of the SAF Alumni Network across institutions and countries. Their interaction symbolized the strong bonds that continue to unite UMCSAWM graduates and the shared commitment to addressing regional and global water challenges.
