This year’s lecture is being organised by the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institute of Development Studies (UMCDSRC) and will focus on the critically relevant theme: “Climate, Livelihood and Gender-Based Violence Nexus – Advancing Peace.” The theme reflects the growing global recognition of the interconnected challenges posed by climate change, socio-economic vulnerabilities, and gender-based violence, particularly in the South Asian context.

The lecture aims to bring together scholars, practitioners, and students to engage in meaningful dialogue on how climate-induced disruptions impact livelihoods and disproportionately affect vulnerable communities, especially women. It will also explore pathways to foster resilience, promote gender equity, and strengthen peace-building efforts in the region.

The event is expected to witness enthusiastic participation from a large number of students, scholars, and faculty members, providing a vibrant platform for dialogue and exchange of ideas on pressing global challenges affecting South Asia and beyond.

Through this lecture, the South Asia Foundation reaffirms its commitment to nurturing informed, socially responsible youth and advancing the ideals of regional cooperation envisioned by its founder.
