Pondicherry University Hosts Landmark National Exhibition

UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Green Energy Technology (UMSGET) under UENSCO Chair for Renewal Engergy proudly marked a historic milestone with the successful completion of the first-ever National Level Competitive Exhibition on Sustainable Technologies (NLCEST–2026), organized on 16 April 2026 under the UNESCO Chair RCESD to commemorate the 102nd Birth Anniversary of Late Shri Madanjeet Singh Madanjeet Singh.

The prestigious national event emerged as a vibrant platform for innovation and excellence, attracting 70+ high-quality exhibits and 200+ participants from across India. Young innovators, researchers, and academicians showcased groundbreaking, interdisciplinary, and solution-driven ideas across 12 major themes of sustainable technologies.

Paying tribute to Shri Madanjeet Singh, organizers highlighted his extraordinary legacy as a diplomat, visionary institution builder, and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador whose contributions to peace, education, and sustainability continue to inspire generations across South Asia. The establishment of the Madanjeet School of Green Energy Technologies at Pondicherry University in 2010 was recognized as a transformative step in strengthening renewable energy education, research, and outreach.

The University also showcased its sustainability achievements, including the ambitious solar-powered campus master plan under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, aimed at making the campus a national model of green practices and renewable energy adoption.

Further highlighting recent progress, the UNESCO Chair has successfully organized several national and international conferences, workshops, and skill development programmes in emerging sectors such as green hydrogen, nuclear-clean hydrogen, ocean energy, and advanced water technologies, in collaboration with Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research and National Institute of Ocean Technology.

The exhibition showcased cutting-edge innovations in renewable energy, hydrogen technologies, sustainable materials, climate change mitigation, smart cities, Agritech, Biotech, AI & IoT for sustainability, waste management, and circular economy solutions, making NLCEST–2026 a resounding success and a powerful step toward a greener, smarter, and sustainable India.
