Prof. Arun Prasath Represents UNESCO Chair at International Round Table on Sustainable Development

Prof. Arun Prasath, UNESCO Chairholder on RCESD and Professor at the Department of Green Energy Technology, Pondicherry University, successfully participated in the prestigious UNESCO Chairs Round Table held from May 13 to 15, 2026, at the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus, Kerala.

During the international gathering, the UNESCO Chair on RCESD received wide appreciation for its impactful initiatives undertaken over the past one and a half years, along with its visionary roadmap for the next two years. The round table discussions focused on several crucial global priorities of UNESCO, including environmental sustainability, digital transformation, gender equality, youth empowerment, and cultural diversity. The deliberations also strengthened collaborative engagement among UNESCO Chairs across the region and generated meaningful insights for future action.

Currently spending the summer vacation in his native place, Coimbatore, Prof. Arun Prasath is preparing for an important online presentation scheduled for May 21, 2026. He will deliver a presentation on the theme, “Frugal AI for Global Industrial Decarbonization through Green and Clean Energy: Advancing the UNSDGs.”

The presentation will take place at 15:45 IST in Salle H029 under Panel 12 – Innovation Frugale et Technodiversité. The session is expected to highlight innovative and sustainable approaches that integrate Artificial Intelligence with green energy solutions to accelerate progress toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs).
