Law graduates from SAARC countries now have an exceptional opportunity to pursue a fully funded Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in Bangladesh through the prestigious UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Scholarship. The UNESCO Madanjeet Singh South Asian Institute of Advanced Legal and Human Rights Studies (UMSAILS) has officially announced applications for its 2027 scholarship program, offering eight fully funded scholarships to outstanding students from across the South Asian region.
The scholarship supports admission to the one-year LL.M. program at the Department of Law and Human Rights, University of Asia Pacific (UAP),UMSAILS, Dhaka, scheduled to run from January to December 2027.
The UNESCO Madanjeet Singh South Asian Institute of Advanced Legal and Human Rights Studies (UMSAILS) was established to promote excellence in legal education, human rights research, and regional cooperation in South Asia. Sponsored by the South Asia Foundation (SAF)—founded by UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Madanjeet Singh—the institute works to strengthen academic collaboration and develop future leaders in law and human rights.
UMSAILS seeks to advance research, postgraduate education, and policy dialogue on critical regional issues, including constitutional law, human rights, climate change, development, and emerging legal challenges affecting South Asia.
For the 2027 academic session, UMSAILS will award eight fully funded scholarships, including one scholarship for a national student and seven scholarships for international students, representing the SAARC member countries.
The scholarship is designed to enable talented law graduates to pursue advanced legal studies while fostering regional understanding and academic exchange.

Citizens of all SAARC member countries are eligible to apply.
Applications will first be screened by the South Asia Foundation (SAF) office in each respective SAARC country. Eligible candidates will then be nominated to UMSAILS for final assessment.
The final selection will be conducted jointly by UMSAILS and the Department of Law and Human Rights, University of Asia Pacific. Shortlisted applicants may be invited to participate in an online interview before the final scholarship awards are announced.
