On 23 March 2009, the former Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, launched at the SAF-India office, New Delhi, Ambassador Madanjeet Singh’s latest book, Kashmiriyat, published under the patronage of UNESCO Cultural Sector, Paris. He defined ‘Kashmiriyat’ as the principle of harmony; a principle that is the essence of the pluralist Sufi-Bhakti-Rishi culture that should become the operating principle in the rest of South Asia.

Union Minister of Panchayati Raj Mani Shankar Aiyar, who is also the chairman of the Foundation’s India chapter, announced the establishment of another SAF Institution of Excellence — Madanjeet Singh Institute for South Asia Regional Cooperation (MISARC) at the Pondicherry University . He said that it would be the 9th in the series of SAF educational Institution so far established in the SAARC countries.
