UMCSAWM-South-Asia-Foundation Fully Paid Scholarship- Admin-Sunil-Binjola

Full-time/Part-time course leading to M.Sc. Degree / Postgraduate Diploma

Applications are invited for the above postgraduate courses offered by the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Moratuwa, and conducted at the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Centre for South Asia Water Management (UMCSAWM), in collaboration with the South Asia Foundation (SAF). The programmes, scheduled to commence in April 2026, are open to both local and international participants with backgrounds in engineering or science who wish to pursue a Master of Science [SLQF Level 10] in the above fields. These courses provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to develop innovative and integrated solutions to complex water-related challenges in the areas of water resources engineering and management. Each programme is carefully structured to offer specialised training underpinned by a strong foundation in the principles, techniques, issues, and practices of modern water resources engineering and management, while also covering related topics in climate change, GIS, irrigation, and disaster risk management, etc., thereby enhancing the professional capacity of practicing engineers and scientists.

 ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: -

For A.) MSc in Water Resources Engineering and Management

i. The Honors Degree of Bachelor of Science of Engineering of the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka in Civil Engineering or any other relevant field, as approved by the Senate;

OR

ii. Any other Honours Degree of Bachelor of Science of Engineering from a recognized University in Civil Engineering or any other relevant field, equivalent to the Honours Degree of Bachelor of Science of Engineering of the University of Moratuwa in a relevant field as judged by the Faculty, and as approved by the Senate;

OR

iii. At least the Associate Membership of a recognized professional engineering institute in a relevant field, obtained through an academic route, with a minimum of one (01) year period of appropriate experience as judged by the Faculty and approved by the Senate;

AND

iv. If English is not the medium of instruction in the first degree of the candidate, valid TOEFL (a minimum of 525 points in paper-based, 196 in computer-based, or 69 in internet-based test) or IELTS (a minimum of 5.5 in Academic Version) scores or equivalent.

For B). MSc in Water Resources Management

i. The Honours Degree of Bachelor of Science of Engineering of the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka in Civil Engineering or any other relevant field, as approved by the Senate;

OR

ii. Any other Honours Degree of Bachelor of Science of Engineering from a recognized University in Civil Engineering or any other relevant field, equivalent to the Honours Degree of Bachelor of Science of Engineering of the University of Moratuwa in a relevant field as judged by the Faculty, and as approved by the Senate;

OR

iii.A Bachelor of Science Degree from a recognized University in a relevant field (four-year degree or three-year degree with a minimum of one (01) year period of appropriate post-qualifying experience), as judged by the Faculty and approved by the Senate;

OR

iv. At least the Associate Membership of a recognized professional institute in a relevant field, obtained through an academic route, with a minimum of one (01) year period of appropriate post-qualifying experience as judged by the Faculty and approved by the Senate;

AND

v. If English is not the medium of instruction in the first degree of the candidate, valid TOEFL (a minimum of 525 points in paper-based, 196 in computer-based, or 69 in internet-based test) or IELTS (a minimum of 5.5 in Academic Version) scores or equivalent

Course Duration

Duration of Programs: 24 months (available in both part-time and full-time modes) and are conducted over weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) in hybrid mode.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

South Asia Foundation (SAF) annually offers twelve (12) fully paid scholarships to full-time participants from SAARC countries for the MSc in Water Resources Engineering and Management program at the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Centre for South Asia Water Management (UMCSAWM).
