In a heartfelt gathering that beautifully encapsulated the spirit of collaboration and cultural exchange, scholars from the UMISAA (UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institute of South Asian Arts) and SAF (South Asia Foundation) came together for an intimate dinner hosted by Prof. Salima Hashmi, renowned artist, academic, and Director of UMISAA at Beaconhouse National University (BNU).
The evening was a warm blend of stories, laughter, and shared aspirations around a beautifully laid dinner table, reflecting the program’s mission of fostering creativity and critical dialogue across borders. Scholars from diverse backgrounds exchanged insights, forming bonds that extend beyond the classroom and across countries.
Prof. Hashmi, a living legend in South Asia’s contemporary art landscape, welcomed the group with characteristic warmth, encouraging young artists to keep questioning, creating, and connecting. “This is what UMISAA truly stands for,” she remarked — “art as a bridge across difference, and education as a catalyst for peace.”
The evening concluded with renewed inspiration and a collective sense of purpose — a memorable milestone in the scholars’ journey of artistic and intellectual discovery.
