The SAFDIC was inaugurated on 31st August 2001 by the Chairperson of Sumitra Foundation, Manmohan Singh, Former Prime Minister of India and SAF Founder Madanjeet Singh. SAFDIC is a member of the DELNET library network.
 
 
 
The South Asia Foundation Documentation and Information Centre (SAFDIC) has become an important South Asian Library. It houses books on topics as varied as peace studies and other subjects concerning South Asia.
 

SAF Documentation & Information Centre is designed to be an up-to-date Documentation and Information Centre for the South Asian region.

SAFDIC houses important books and journals and already has over 7 400 selected volumes on the social and natural sciences, international relations, security, literature, culture, human rights, environment, gender education, health, science and technology, peace studies etc.

The journal section has a fairly large collection, mostly published in South Asia. For detailed information, such as country specific statistics and profiles, please visit the SAARC Secretariat website.

 

SAFDIC is housed at SAF-India's premises at A-33, Vasant Marg, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi – 110057. The library is open from 9:30 a.m. till 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (except National holidays).

A reading room with internet and photocopying facilities provide scholars a valuable knowledge base resource centre. The Thematic Bibliography section provides a comprehensive bibliography on major South Asian issues along with the names of institutions working in these fields.
