Call for admission to M.Tech in Green Energy Technology programme under South Asia Foundation sponsorship to students from SAARC Countries
Nominations are invited from respective SAF Chapters of SAARC countries for admission to two-year regular full-time M.Tech. Green Energy Technology program at the Department of Green Energy Technology, Madanjeet School of Green Energy Technologies, Pondicherry University, for the Academic Year 2025-26. The last date of receipt of nomination through the SAF-India chapter is 06.05.2025. You may nominate the candidates at the earliest to facilitate timely admission. Visa processing shall be as per Govt. of India norms.

Eligibility criteria:
Any other equivalent qualification claimed for admission shall be decided by the faculty of DGET as per the guidelines of the Association of Indian Universities.
Number of Fellowships: 16 fellowships are available to students from the eight SAARC countries, including India. (Two from each SAF Chapters), with emphasis on gender parity
Selection Criteria: Country-wise preliminary selection and nomination should be completed by the respective SAF chapters based on the eligibility criteria, and keeping gender equality. The final selection of the nominated candidates will be done by the admission committee constituted at the Department of Green Energy Technology, Pondicherry University.
Emoluments: Admitted students shall be given full course fee that includes tuition fee, registration fee, examination fee, University hostel accommodation charges, group medical insurance, and an annual contingency grant of Rs. 10,000/- to support study-related expenses. A monthly stipend of Rs. 12,500/- towards living expenses shall be given.

Prof. R. Arun Prasath, UNESCO Chairholder on Renewable and Clean Energy for Sustainable Development (RCESD) at the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh School of Green Energy and Technologies (UMSGET), Pondicherry University, represented India at the prestigious COLLOQUE INTERNATIONAL IATNPRI–Comtecdev 2026 hosted by the University of Bordeaux Montaigne, France. Speaking at Panel 12 on “Frugal Innovation and Technodiversity,” Prof. Arun Prasath delivered a presentation titled “Frugal AI for Global Industrial Decarbonization through Green and Clean Energy: Advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals.”
Prof. Arun Prasath, UNESCO Chairholder on RCESD and Professor at the Department of Green Energy Technology, Pondicherry University, successfully participated in the prestigious UNESCO Chairs Round Table held from May 13 to 15, 2026, at the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus, Kerala.
On 16 April 2026, marking the 102nd Birth Anniversary of Late UNESCO Goodwill Amb. Madanjeet Singh—distinguished diplomat, visionary philanthropist, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, and founding architect of the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institutions of Excellence across SAARC nations—the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institute of Green Energy Technology (UMSGET), under the UNESCO Chair for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development at Pondicherry University, ceremonially inaugurated the National Level Competitive Exhibition on Sustainable Technologies (NLCEST–2026).
Madame France Marquet, Principal Trustee of Madanjeet Singh Foundation, paid a distinguished visit to Port Blair campus of Pondicherry University, where she toured the School of Life Sciences, Department of Ocean Studies, and Marine Biology.
