Founder's PrologueOur visit to Pakistan began in Karachi at Sir Syed University where we were welcomed warmly by the Chancellor, Z. A. Nizami, and met about twenty Professors, lecturers and IT experts of Engineering and Technology. There was much laughter when I asserted that I was the only genuine Pakistani among them, having been born in Lahore, while they had all emigrated from India after partition. |
Since 2002, she has successfully managed the SAF Madanjeet Singh Group Scholarships at BNU. Thereafter, on 27th November 2006, a resolution was adopted at the Special Meeting of the SAF Governing Council in Delhi to increase these scholarships in number. The SAF contributed the sum of INR 10,000,000 to the victims of the devastating earthquake in Kashmir. In Pakistan INR 50,000,000 was contributed to the President’s Fund and another INR 50,000,000 was sent to Ms. Souriya Anwar, Director of the SOS villages in Pakistan, partly to rehabilitate schools in Muzzafarabad and partly to be used for organizing SAF SOS Environment Camps. - - -

Ms Hema Shironi, esteemed alumna of the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institute for South Asian Arts (UMISAA) 2018 from Sri Lanka, has been honored as a Speaker and Winner of the Asia Arts Future (South Asia) Award at the 10th annual Asia Arts Game Changer Awards India 2026 presented by Asia Society India.
Presented during Singapore Art Week 2026, the inaugural Print Show & Symposium Singapore featured a powerful keynote conversation with Prof. Salima Hashmi—Director, UMISAA; Chairperson, SAF-Pakistan; and MSF Trustee—titled “The worse things are, the better the art becomes.” Moderated by Rirkrit Tiravanija, renowned Thai artist and Professor at Columbia University School of the Arts, the dialogue was deeply reflective and moving.
